Autoplay Enable

Windows comes with an AutoPlay option that automatically plays CDs when they are inserted in the CD-ROM drive. The CD should also be designed to support this AutoPlay feature. To enable this feature, follow these steps:

1. Click My Computer
2. Right-click CD-ROM
3. Click Properties
4. Click Autoplay tab
5. In the actions section "Check "select an action to perform"
6. And deselect option "Take No Action"
7. Click Apply.

This will enable the Autoplay in Windows XP.

If the problem is not resolved, you can enable the Autoplay from Registry. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type "Regedit" (without quotes)
4. Open: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
5. Change to value of 'Autorun', or create a new DWORD value if it doesn't exist: (0=disable, 1=enable)
6. Restart the Computer.

If the system is still unable to Autoplay the CD's in the CD drive then I suggest you download and install "Autoplay.exe" file from either of the following URLs:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/8/c/28c4ace3-f5ed-4e14-bc64-3d563b807dfb/Autoplay.exe

If the Autoplay tab is not available, then follow these steps to enable "Shell Hardware detection" service:

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. In the list of services, double-click "Shell hardware detection" service.
3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic.
4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
