I would like to inform you that the Registration utility included in your Presario dials a number to register your system. Therefore, if you are using a cable modem in your system, then you may not be able to register your system using the same.
To register your product, follow the steps provided below:
1. Visit the link given below:

NOTE : Clicking the link may give an error indicating it is invalid. If this occurs, copy the portion of the address on the remaining line(s) and paste it at the end of the address showing in your browser until the complete address is displayed in the Address box.
NOTE: You need to enter a user name and password to register your product. If you have not created the HP Registration Profile, please select "I am a New Visitor". If you have already created your profile, you can use the same user name and password to enter the site to register your system.
2. In the page displayed, enter your User Name and Password.
3. This will display the "register your product" page. Under "enter Product Full name".
4. Now it will prompt you for the product information details.
5. Select the purchase date.
6. Under "enter Product Serial Number".
7. Select Windows XP Home Edition.
8. Click Submit.
After click submit you will get following information.
Your registration has been successfully completed. To express our appreciation, here are some things you may find of interest. Simply check the box for those you would like to receive and click the submit button when you are finished. You may select as many as you like.
9. Select mark in Yes. sign me up.
10. Select Yes Sign me up.
11. Click Submit.
12. Choose operating system/technology.
13. Click submit.
