Memory showing 3 gb when it is 4 GB

From your e-mail, I understand that you have instlled 4GB memory with the notebook but at the startup screen it shows only 3GB memory and need assistance regarding this issue.

I regret to inform that this the know issue with the Micrsoft Windows Vista 32 bit operating Systems. The system shows incorrect information about memory at the startup screen. In 4GB memory some memory will be used by the video shared memory, BIOS and also for the external devices that are connected to the notebook. The remaining memory will be shown in the system information or the startup screen.

However, if you may confirm the memory information in the BIOS setup. Here you will be able to see the correct information of memory that is built in the notebook. Please follow the below steps for entering in to the BIOS:

1. Turn on or restart the notebook.
2. Press the F10 key when the "HP Invent" logo appears on the screen.
3. In the BIOS setup page you will be able to see the Total memory option. In this Total memory option you will be able to see the correct in-built memory information.
