USB not working

From your Email, I understand that your presario USB ports are not working.

The issue you are experiencing could be due to either malfunctioning of the USB ports or could be due to corrupted drivers.

In order to resolve the issue, I recommend you please uninstall and reinstall the USB Ports on your computer.

To uninstall and reinstall the USB ports on your computer please follow the instructions provided below:

1. Save and close all programs that are currently running.
2. Click Start, select Shut Down, and choose Restart the computer.
3. Press the F8 function key or the Ctrl key when the HP logo appears. This will display the Windows Startup menu.
4. Select option 3 to load Windows in Safe mode.
5. After Windows loads in Safe mode, Click Start and select Control Panel.
6. Double-click the system icon. If the System icon is not found directly under Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon and then click the System icon.
7. The System properties Window opens. You can open the System Properties window directly by pressing the Windows key and Pause/Break key simultaneously.
8. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
9. In the Device Manager Window, double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
10. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
11. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

NOTE: Repeat steps 10 and 11 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

The USB port is now uninstalled.

Now, restart the system. The system automatically detects and reinstalls the USB port.

Installation Instructions

1. Download the driver package.
2. Double-click on the icon for the driver package downloaded in Step 1, and then click NEXT.
3. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click NEXT.
4. Click OK to continue. The original drivers are now stored in the C:\HP\Drivers\Chipset folder.
5. If Device Manager does not start automatically, use the following steps. Otherwise go to Step 6:

a. Click Start.
b. Right-click My Computer, and then select Properties.
c. Click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.
6. Click the + (plus) sign next to System devices or "Other devices".
7. Right-click SMBus Controller or the device you want to update, and then select Update Driver....
8. Click NEXT to install the software automatically.
9. Click FINISHED to complete the installation.
